Simon Bernier survived a plane crash in northern Quebec, and is now being called a hero after helping save the lives of two other passengers from the small aircraft, CBC News reports.

Bernier, 15, is one of the two survivors from the accident. The plane that was carrying him and a few family members crashed into the side of a mountain as they were on their way to a fishing trip.

He suffered only minor injuries and was able to pull his uncle and father from the wreckage. He used water droplets and sap from nearby pine trees to try and keep the two men alive.

"He saved my husband and tried to save the others," Marcelle Guay, Bernier's aunt, told the news provider. "He's extraordinary."

Rescue teams arrived nine hours later, but his father did not survive. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Survivors of plane crash may suffer from physical, psychological and emotional trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The National Center for PTSD estimates that between seven and eight percent of Americans will develop PTSD at some point in their lifetime. They also say women are more likely than men to develop the disorder.

There are several types of treatment for PTSD including cognitive processing therapy. The NCPTSD is an excellent source for individuals and their families that are battling the disorder.
