Ryan Barnett Released From Hospital After Surviving Shooting

Ryan Barnett has returned home to his father after being released from the hospital. Barnett saw his mother and four siblings all killed by his stepfather, Patrick Dell.
Barnett, a 15-year-old, had been shot in the neck by Dell after he forced his way into the home of Natasha Whyte-Dell, Barnett's mother. Dell opened fire on Whyte-Dell and four of her children, The Palm Beach Post reports.
Barnett and two of Dell's children survived the shooting. As police arrived on the scene Dell exited the home and killed himself.
According to The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime, one violent crime occurs every six seconds and one murder occurs every 32 seconds in the U.S.
The organization works on behalf of the victims of violence and crime to help create safer communities. They provide support services, crisis intervention, counseling and educational programs. Services are free and confidential, providing survivors and victims a sense of safety as they speak out against those who have committed acts against them.
