Rob Waggett's heart stopped for 18 minutes last year, but through sheer luck he only suffers from slight short-term memory loss as a result. After undergoing several tests to determine what may have caused his heart attack, doctors have cleared him of any heart problems, South Wales Argus reports.

Waggett, 32, was otherwise healthy, so when his heart suddenly stopped, it came as a complete surprise. Doctors believe he may have suffered from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), but they are still trying to determine the exact cause.

His two sons, Koby and Mylo, also underwent tests to determine if they would be susceptible to heart problems as they grew older.

"It was a relief to get my results back and have the tests over with, but my biggest relief was when the children's tests came back negative. Now they can live their lives and run around without having to worry about heart problems," he told the news source.

Waggett had a device implanted to help control his heart rhythm, and he hopes to return to work soon since getting the all clear from his physicians.

According to the American Red Cross, 95 percent of those who suffer a heart attack die before reaching the hospital. The organization has been working with local communities to raise awareness about heart attacks and to encourage individuals to enroll in CPR courses, noting that administering CPR right after an attack occurs greatly improves the chances of survival.

The American Red Cross works to support individuals and their families affected by numerous emergencies. Not only does the organization promote CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) awareness, it also assists in locating services for those affected by natural disasters.
