Harry Wrublewski is a survivor in every sense of the word. The man has been through tough ordeals, but his outlook on life has remained positive and he is now serving as an inspiration to others, J-Wire Jewish Australian News Service reports.

One incident took place in Belgium where he was with his wife and son. They had stopped to get something to eat when he politely asked a woman to finish her cigarette outside of the restaurant. The woman left, only to return with four men who then attacked Wrublewski right in front of his family.

Police and paramedics were astonished that he managed to survive the brutal assault, which lasted for 10 minutes, considering the men punched, kicked and bit him.

One afternoon he was out for a walk, when he noticed he was breathing heavily, huffing and puffing. He had thought he was in pretty good shape, but went to the doctor, who determined that he had five major blockages in his arteries and would need an emergency quadruple bi-pass. If he had waited any longer he would have suffered a major heart attack.

Wrublewski survived the procedure, and has been taking each day as it comes.

"Things happen and you have to accept that they do and move on. I have learnt to compartmentalise and only keep onboard in my head what I need. With every hurdle I have gotten stronger and with my wife, Sara by my side I can do anything," he told the news source.

The Bureau of Justice reports that there were 3.3 aggravated assaults per every 1,000 people, and 12.9 simple assaults per every 1,000 people in the United States in 2008. These numbers are the lowest since they began recording the statistics in 1973.

The National Center for Victims of Crime is an excellent source for individuals and their families who have been affected by a crime. The organization offers information regarding support groups and hotlines for survivors of abuse or assault. They also offer assistance in helping victims through the National Crime Victim Bar Association which helps finding legal counsel for those who are seeking justice through the courts.ADNFCR-2654-ID-19895460-ADNFCR
