Go Big Green! The year's list of America's Greenest Colleges and Universities has been released by the Sierra Club -- and these environmentally-focused schools top the list for 2010.

Each academic institution was evaluated on ten criteria: energy supply, food, efficiency, academics, purchasing, transportation, waste management, administration, financial investments and other initiatives. A perfect score on each section was worth 10 points, adding up to a total of 100. The winning school, Green Mountain College in Vermont, came in first place with 88.6 points.

If your school isn't on the list, ask why not? There are many things you can do to help your school go green. Advocate for a state-of-the-art recycling program, composting facilities, and electricity saving program. You can promote a bicycle culture at the college that will also help reduce your carbon fuel emissions. Be an example for your peers and go green. Help the environment survive.
