While performing on stage in Missouri on Saturday November 5th, the great American singer Andy Williams announced that he has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, is receiving treatment and plans to make his return to performing in 2012.

"I do have cancer of the bladder," the 83-year-old singer told the audience, "[But] people with cancer are ... kicking it, and they're winning more and more every year. And I'm going to be one of them."

In a separate statement the singer also clarified that he was seeking treatment.

"You may have read or heard that I have bladder cancer. It's true and I'm currently undergoing treatment to deal with it," Williams said in a statement.

The singer maintains a positive outlook despite facing his diagnosis of bladder cancer and is optimistic to return to stage for his singing career's 75th anniversary next year.

"But [cancer] is no longer a death sentence. People with cancer are getting through this thing," Williams said, according to Tyler Francke with the Branson Tri-Lakes News who was at attendance at the concert in Branson, Missouri.
