Three time cancer survivor, Sadie Rosenberg, 95, is still living strong. Rosenberg, a resident of The Park at Vernon Hills senior living community in Vernon Hills, exercise in daily classes, volunteers weekly, and stays active in other activities, John Roszkowski from the Vernon Hills Review reports.

Although now in nearly perfect health, she survived breast cancer in 1992, nearly died from stomach cancer in 1998 and was recently treated for skin cancer.

"I'm a survivor, that's all I can say," the former resident of Chicago said with a smile to the Vernon Hills Review.

Rosenberg believes her secret is staying active with a diverse number of tasks. She participates in yoga, karate, tai chi, and strengthening exercises. She is also an avid reader who enjoys the mental stimulation and she doesn't sit down and watch much TV.

She underwent six weeks of intensive radiation treatment for her breast cancer and was very ill. Her later battle with stomach cancer hospitalized her for a long time, and a large portion of her stomach had to be removed during surgery. She says how no one thought she, then 83, was going to survive the treatment.

Jane Woloson, executive director of The Park at Vernon Hills, says that Rosenberg's positive outlook is an inspiration to other cancer survivors and residents. Woloson says that Rosenberg is "well on her way to making it to our Centenarian Club."
