When actress Christina Applegate was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in August 2008, she underwent a double mastectomy to remove the cancer. Now breast-cancer free, Applegate, 38, has discussed her battle with cancer publicly. She even founded Right Action For Women in 2009, a charitable organization dedicated to breast cancer screening for women.
Sheryl Crow

Songstress Sheryl Crow was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2006, and was in remission by April of that year. Crow, now 48, has gone on to support organizations that are committed to breast cancer research, such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Stand up to Cancer.
Robin Roberts

49-year-old "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts has been cancer free since 2008. She was first diagnosed in June 2007, and one month later she announced her diagnosis on the air. Roberts shaved her head and wore a wig on the air, but never hid her public battle with cancer, which has been recognized by The Susan G. Komen Foundation; The Congressional Families Cancer Prevention Program; and Gilda's Club, a non-profit organization founded by the late Joel Siegel.
Edie Falco

Emmy-Winning actress Edie Falco played Carmela Soprano on "The Sopranos" and currently stars in Showtime series "Nurse Jackie" -- but what some may not know is that she is also a breast cancer survivor. Falco was diagnosed on September 5, 2003 with Stage I breast cancer, and announced she was cancer-free in December 2004 saying that she hadn't had treatment in over five months and was very healthy. Falco has also said that surviving cancer inspired her to start the adoption process and begin a family.
Cynthia Nixon

"Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon, 44, helped her friend Samantha battle breast cancer while playing Miranda on hit show. But
in October 2006, Nixon herself was diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine mammogram. She announced two years later on "Good Morning America" that she had recovered from breast cancer -- though she also admitted to keeping the lumpectomy and radiation treatment under wraps, because she feared the social stigma of cancer. Now she is involved as an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Hoda Kotb

“Today” show host and four time Emmy nominated journalist Hoda Kotb, 46, was
diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2007. Kotb underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery later that year, and is now a proud cancer survivor. She even allowed "Today" show cameras to follow her through the treatment and when she was announced cancer free. Kotb was the keynote speaker at The Pink Agenda in 2009 which is an organization of young professionals dedicated to financing breast cancer research.
Suzanne Sommers

At 63, Suzanne Sommers has proved she can battle much more than unwanted thigh bulge. The actress, author, and busniess mogul announced her breast cancer diagnosis in 2001 on Larry King Life.
She had a lumpectomy and radiation treatment, but created waves when she substituted alternative medicine for the chemotherapy. Her book "Knockout: Interviews with Doctors who are Curing Cancer" advocates for alternative treatments to cancer.
