Although gaming addiction may not seem as dangerous as overdosing from drugs, it can significantly affect someone’s life. A child who plays video games for five hours a day has no time to interact with peers, exercise or do homework. This stubs emotional development and can lead to obesity and social problems.

Symptoms of internet and gaming addiction are varied and include compulsive and increased use of online services everyday, losing track of time after making a connection, thinking about gaming during other activities, social isolation, gaming to escape real-life problems, spending consistently less time on meals, denying spending too much time on the computer, sneaking online when spouse or family members are not at home or lying to them to conceal use, erratic mood swings, neglecting responsibilities to health, regular sleeping, hygiene, financial commitments, work or study.
