The Symptoms of an Aneurysm
Learn How to Recognize the Symptoms of an Aneurysm from The Survivors Club
Most aneurysms do not have any symptoms and can be difficult to discover. When an aneurysm is found, it is typically from an examination or can be seen on x-ray films. When an aneurysm does show symptoms, there is usually a pulsing sensation or there can be pain in the area of the aneurysm. When an aneurysm is in the chest area, you may have pain, trouble swallowing, or coughing.
When an aneurysm ruptures, it can cause sever pain, excessive bleeding, shock, loss of consciousness, or death. In some cases, an aneurysm may leak, causing pain, but is not as rapid as a rupture. Whether it leaks or ruptures, emergency surgery is necessary to stop the bleeding and prevent death.
