Fibromyalgia affects your entire body and can make you feel tired. It most often causes muscle pain and "tender points." Tender points are places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms or legs that hurt when touched. People with fibromyalgia may have other symptoms, such as trouble sleeping, morning stiffness, headaches, and problems with thinking and memory, sometimes called "fibro fog."

Because the symptoms of Fibromyalgia are "invisible" to doctors, diagnosis depends compeltely on the patient's descriptions of the symptoms. Sometimes, people may even think that the person suffering from fibromyalgia is making up the symptoms or exaggerating the pain. If this happens to you, do not become upset, but assert your true feelings and be honest with yourself.

You may want to start a symptom diary to keep track of where and when you feel pain. These documents will be very useful when brought to the attention of your primary care physician.
