Raising a child is a daunting task to begin with -- and doing it on your own can prove to be even more difficult. Fulfilling the roles of two parents means being sympathetic and tough at the same time and often leads to stress. To help you stay sane, finding support from books, friends, family and other groups is important.

Raising a child on your own can be caused by a myriad of factors. Parents are often left to do the job of rasing a child alone because of a divorce or death of a spouse.
