One Woman Offers Other Survivors Online Service to Survive Grief

Sandra Champlain Created Free Audio Program to Help Survivors and Their Families Deal with Grief

May 24, 2011 Recently, tornadoes throughout the American south and the flooding Mississippi River have ravaged people throughout the United States. Many have lost family members or life-long homes and are experiencing grief. One woman, Sandra Champlain has also felt feelings of disbelief, anger, sadness, and regret that are associated with grief. She lost her grandmother in 2008 and grieved her loss for several months before the pain began to subside. Last year in May 2010, Sandra lost her father to cancer in the spine. She, like the so many people recently experiencing grief, was forced to go on with her life while dealing with the loss. During her grieving process Sandra chose not to push the feelings of grief away, instead she committed herself to “investigating grief.” Out of her research and experience, Sandra created an online audio program “How to Survive Grief” (at www.survivegrief.com) to help others, like herself, who are in grieving. In the audio, she discusses the 5 Stages of Grieving as well as some other signs of grieving that are much less known. “Grief lasts on average one year, and if you do the math assuming only 2 people are suffering from each death (of course there are more), there are over 113 million people experiencing the pain from grief daily in the world – that’s a lot of pain!” Sandra said. “My goal is to educate the people of what grief is and what purpose it serves for our species. If people understand what happens in the brain during the grieving process, I believe there will be less pain, less suicides, less families will come apart and faster healing will occur.” The audio, available for streaming or download, is free to all listeners.
