More than 40 teen burn survivors from the U.S. and Canada were invited to attend this year's 15th Annual International Burn Camp in Washington D.C., hosted by the International Association of Fire Fighters' Burn Foundation, reports BusinessWire.

The young survivors will visit FedEx Field, the home turf of Washington Redskins linebacker Robert Henson, who lost his 10-year-old brother in a fire 13 years ago.

The player, along with teammates, will lead the survivors around the stadium and share his personal story of both tragedy and motivation with the excited teenagers.

The goal of the International Burn Camp, which runs from September 25 through October 1, is to continue its commitment to "Helping Heal Bodies, Hearts and Souls."

By offering a supportive and nurturing environment the camp allows for young burn survivors to cope with their loss and facilitate their recovery.

Each year the IAFF's Burn Foundation fully funds this inspirational camp with the help of numerous IAFF locals, foundations, individuals and corporate sponsors supporting the camp. The international campers were nominated from regional or state burn camps.

The burn survivors at camp are from 27 states and six provinces and will visit the Capitol building and major monuments in the metropolitan area in addition to meeting with Redskins' Robert Henson.

More information about the 15th International Burn Camp, including a list of attendees, can be found here:IAFF International Burn Camp - Home

Burns can leave scars that never heal including emotional wounds that no medical care can repair. These children are just a few of the 500,000 Americans who suffer burns each year. For more information please visit IAFF.org.
