August 23Are drivers education programs dated and dangerous, or are students who go through drivers education simply on the road at a younger age? That is the question puzzling Indiana lawmakers, who say a new study shows teenagers who take driver's education classes are actually MORE likely to crash than those who do not take the classes, according to WishTV.The study, released by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, shows current drivers under 18 who took driver's ed had nearly four times the crashes than those without the training. The study has convinced some lawmakers that it's "time for an overhaul" in Indiana's driver's education program, which has not changed in the past 30 years. However, the BMV suggests that the study might be skewed, because teens who take driver's ed get their permits earlier, and have more time on the road. In either case, it's important to keep you, your family, and your teen driver safe as school starts again, and new drivers are back on the road.Read these guides from the CDC for more information on teen driving safety and preventing traffic injuries.
