After an auto accident, it is important to give yourself time to recover. You may want to speak to a counselor or join a support group. These will allow you to speak about your feelings and share with people who will listen. Before returning to work and your daily routine, prepare yourself. Wake up at the usual time and make sure you are able to get ready for work and that you leave enough time for any injuries you may have sustained.

Take small steps in your recovery that face your fears. This will help you get back the power of your individuality. Start by taking small trips in the car, and slowly adding distance to your drive. Take things one step at a time. You will eventually catch back up on work and bills. Take any insurance claims one step at a time. These are usually huge processes that can be frustrating. Remain present and take charge of what is in your power. Do not allow someone like your boss or creditor to force you to do more than you are able. Be gentle on yourself and know your limitations. Ask your family and friends for any support you may need, and don't be afraid to share your feelings with them. Those that love you know that you have been through a traumatic experience and want you to recover.
